The Centre for Geo-information of Wageningen University and Research Centre is a joint group of the Wageningen University and the Green World Research Alterra. About 50 people are working in teaching, basic and applied research and spatial data delivery. An extensive description of  organisation of the Centre for Geo-information, the location and the people are given under cgi.girs.wageningen-ur.nl/cgi/organisation

The teaching programme consists of basic courses for different Wageningen studies, a MSc programme in Geo-information Science for Dutch and International students and a so called “Interspecialisatie Geo-informatiekunde”.

Important research themes are: providing geo-information for rural areas, rural areas monitoring, scenario studies and visualisation and communication of geo-information. Imaging spectroscopy and high resolution satellite imagery are important research activities of the remote sensing group. Accuracy is an important topic for the GIS-group. For more information on basic and applied research, see cgi.girs.wageningen-ur.nl/cgi/research

The spatial data accessibility is arranged by the Geodesk. See for an extensive overview of the available data sets and the way how to order: cgi.girs.wageningen-ur.nl/cgi/geodesk. Outcome of various research projects like publications, applications, models and also links to publicity on GIS and remote sensing are given under products: cgi.girs.wageningen-ur.nl/cgi/products
